Health Minister calls for "moderation in the use of sick leave"

Health Minister calls for "moderation in the use of sick leave"
On BFMTV, Health Minister Yannick Neuder stressed on Tuesday, July 29, that sick leave is "an opportunity" but called for "using it in moderation."

He calls for "everyone's responsibility" but wishes to "blame no one." Health Minister Yannick Neuder stated on Tuesday, July 29, on BFMTV that while sick leave is "an opportunity" for our country, it must be used "in moderation."

"It's a blessing in France that we can stop to get treatment, protect ourselves and (...) not contaminate those around us. It must be used in moderation and with care," the minister recommends.

In the midst of a budgetary storm , where the government is trying as best it can to make drastic savings, Yannick Neuder points out that sick leave has increased "by almost 6.4%", representing "17 billion euros" for the private sector and "up to 27 billion" if we add those of civil servants.

The Minister of Health also said he was "shocked" that "someone would say 'since that's how it is, I'm going on sick leave'." He reminded everyone that sick leave remains "a medical act," and called on the French to be "citizens; they don't request sick leave if their mental or physical health doesn't require it."

Doctors are being urged by the Duquesne Avenue tenant to be "cautious" and "careful" in their prescriptions for sick leave.
